Digital
Avalanche training

The perfect extension to your avalanche transceiver course

You make decisions in realistic scenarios, receive precise mountain guide feedback and repeat and practise, practise, practise until you get it right.

The learning journey

All our courses are designed according to the standard of integrative avalanche awareness. After our virtual ski tours, you will have a holistic, practical understanding of avalanche danger, risk management and confident decision-making on the mountain.

Structure of the digital training courses:

  1. Scenario start: Briefing on weather, avalanche report, tour, group. This is the basis for all your decisions.
  2. Recognize: Weather conditions, snow conditions, group dynamics. The aim is to recognize dangers at an early stage and weigh up the facts.
  3. Decide: Route selection and terrain, distances, assembly points, risk management. Learn to justify decisions and not to judge from your gut.
  4. Feedback: State-certified mountain guides evaluate your decisions. We do not recommend learning from the consequences, i.e. avalanches.
  5. Reflection & repetition: Feedback is the biggest lever in learning! And your knowledge becomes applicable and firmly anchored.

Integrative avalanche awareness

The latest standard in avalanche training

Our training courses follow the standard of integrative avalanche awareness and are based on the cycle of safety. They guide you step by step through all phases of a safe ski tour - from planning to reflection. Each module is structured in such a way that you build up knowledge, make decisions and actively learn from them.

  • Holistic: Thinking terrain, people and conditions together.
  • Decision-based: Not testing knowledge, but training action and decision-making.
  • Transferable: Make decisions based on criteria and facts and not on your ominous gut feeling.

Reflection

Your decisions are assessed by state-certified mountain guides. It is concrete, comprehensible, to the point and lets you practice making mistakes without feeling the harsh consequences of an avalanche accident.

  • What was good? Making strengths visible.
  • What was missing? Closing gaps and recognizing deviations from the plan.
  • What is changing? Next steps clearly defined. Gaining knowledge.

Stable learning effects - bye bye bad gut feeling

Feedback and reapplication lead to a rapid build-up of skills and consolidated knowledge. Instead of a one-off "aha" moment, you gain confidence. Finally say goodbye to the ominous gut feeling and make decisions that you can justify based on facts!

Variation

Practice more scenarios and avalanche problems than each season offers: In real life, you wouldn't experience as many situations in years as you practise in our training courses.

  • Breadth instead of chance: play through difficult decision-making situations and rare or critical avalanche problems (e.g. tricky snowpacks, complex track selection for treacherous avalanche problems)
  • Systematic instead of sporadic: variants according to weather, exposure, steepness, group factors, in a plannable sequence.
  • Repeat until it fits: same pattern in different settings.
  • Build up a routine: More decision-making moments per hour than on any tour.

The learning effect of the courses

No matter which version of our courses you play through, they all have this learning concept in common: Apply. Repeat. Deepen.

Digital Learning

Our didactics come from over a decade of e-learning practice:

  • Micro-interactions: Decisions instead of multiple choice.
  • Making knowledge applicable and enabling practice
  • Evaluated steps: Learning from wrong decisions.
  • On-demand: practise when and where it suits you.

It takes 1,000 correct repetitions to be able to perform a movement flawlessly. It takes countless hours of practice to learn a language. Why should it be any different with tour decisions? Practice with us so that you can enjoy your tour with confidence on the spot.
